Starting my UX boot camp I was told to pick a business to help them redesign their website. I picked a place that for the longest time I wanted to spend time at. Thinking it be great opportunity to go and hangout and do my research.

After doing my very first interview, it was clear as blue sky in the middle of June that I will not be doing my research about this place. My research took a welcomed turn towards EVENT ATTENDING. So I went with it…

Having worked in events planning gave me a head start with writing my survey & interview questions. I got myself back into an events planner headspace that wants to through the best events in the country.

After conducting interviews & sending out surveys I was able to gather a lot of great informations. Lets go over a few of the steps I took.

With the data I gathered from my interviews and surveys I was able to put this affinity map together that opened so many doors for me to dive deeper into my research. Now I could see an obvious pattern…

Let us talk about the key words that stood out to me.

Anticipation

Wrong information

Sold-out

Anticipation

Anticipation plays big factor when it comes to attending an event. You are going out, stepping out of your comfort zone and you're anticipating to meet your expectations. Nothing hurts more than being let down. That was bit dramatic. The point is the hype needs to meet the reality.

Wrong information

Wrong information goes hand in hand with not meeting what you anticipated. Just due to lack of or incorrect info about the event. “I was overdressed because of wrong information” said an interviewee. How you feel during the event can affect the whole experience for good.

Last minute

We have all been in that scenario that you feel guilty for having to stay in just because you didn't have time to book a ticket or plan ahead. I believe your busy schedule should not get in the way of you enjoying your free time.

Sold-out

Amongst many things that we have no control over like weather or Covid, I believe we can consider not being able to attend an event due to tickets being sold out is old news and if you want to go there should be no reason that would stop you.

After reflecting on my finding I wanted to bring all the key points of my interviewees together.

Lets meet Natalia Smith

Now that we know Natalia let us look at the journey she takes when she is done with work and needs to get out.

After having done 6 ideation interviews. I getting closer and closer to find a solution to eliminate the problems that one might face.

low fidelity hand scratched wireframe

With the great ideas that I got I was able to put together the hand sketched wireframe as you see above. This with my usability testing had me all excited to improve the UX. Maybe even more research.

For sure more research…
